Speaker Nancy Pelosi wrote Donald Trump and disinvited him to deliver the State Of The Union due to the government shutdown.

The U.S. Secret Service was designated as the lead federal agency responsible for coordinating, planning, exercising, and implementing security for National Special Security Events by Public Law 106-544, December 19, 2000. However, both the U.S. Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security have not been funded for 26 days now – with critical departments hamstrung by furloughs.

Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address or for you to consider delivering your State of the Union address in writing to the Congress on January 29th.

Nancy Pelosi Took Away Trump’s State Of The Union

Speaker Pelosi isn’t going to give Trump the platform of an address to Congress so that he can spout lies about his fake border crisis to get his wall. Pelosi is showing Trump how it is done. If the president wants to give the State Of The Union, he needs to reopen the government so that there is proper security at the speech.

Pelosi was right. The security concerns are real. The nation can’t have a gathering with the president, vice president, cabinet officials, all of Congress, and the Supreme Court in the same place while the Secret Service isn’t funded.
Trump chose to shut down the government, and now he has lost his State Of The Union.
