Sarah Sanders Says The American People Support Trump And The Wall

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders sold some serious delusion when she claimed that the American people support Trump and his wall.

Here was the exchange outside the White House:

Q: Senators Gardner and Collins say it’s time for the president to compromise. Are they right?

Sanders: Look, the president’s been willing to negotiate from the beginning, but he’s not going to put our national security and the safety of the American people at risk.

Q: Sarah, can he continue to dig in if he’s starting to lose the support of some of those within his own party?

Sanders: Look, the president has the support of the American people because they want to feel safe.

Video:

Trump doesn’t even have the support of Republican Senators who are beginning to bail on the shutdown. Senate Republicans want to do a deal with Democrats. The Democratic position is clear. There will be no money for the wall. The wall is not the hill that Republican Senators want to die on, so it is likely that if the shutdown pressure keeps growing, they are going to try to push Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell into breaking with Trump and ending the shutdown with no wall.

Sarah Sanders has told thousands of lies as press secretary, but the statement that the American people support the wall is completely out of touch with reality. Support for Trump’s border wall shutdown has fallen to 25%, and with each poll, the numbers are getting worse for Republicans and the White House.

With Republicans on the verge of abandoning Trump, Sarah Sanders is selling a line that makes it clear that this White House isn’t even close to seeing the truth about their doomed shutdown.
