The World Is Laughing At Trump As He Desperately Begs Taxpayers To Fund His Fantasy Border Wall

As Donald Trump continues to box himself into a corner over his government shutdown, Ari Melber pointed out on Wednesday that the world is laughing at him.

According to the MSNBC host, the shutdown of the government over Trump’s border wall is a “total and complete violation of what he ran on” and the United States is falling further into laughingstock territory as a result.

“No, it’s not what he ran on. It’s the total and complete violation of what he ran on, which was Mexico funding the wall,” Melber said.

“On the wall – whether you think we should build one or not – we are looked at as suckers right now,” Melber added. “Around the world, people marveling at Trump negotiating himself into punishing his own country after failing to get a peso from Mexico.”

You may have heard this now-common claim that the shutdown that breaks Trump’s promise is actually Trump standing by his promise. … No, it’s not what he ran on. It’s the total and complete violation of what he ran on, which was Mexico funding the wall. Now we can all debate whether ‘America First’ is a good idea, but even as Trump loudly breaks his wall promise, he continues to claim he’s putting America first by getting other countries to meet their obligations, from boots on the ground to picking up the tab as he recently told our troops. … Trump declares we’re not suckers and we’re not looked at as suckers, but on the wall – whether you think we should build one or not – we are looked at as suckers right now. Around the world, people marveling at Trump negotiating himself into punishing his own country after failing to get a peso from Mexico.

The biggest suckers? Trump supporters.

While Donald Trump likes to claim that America is no longer a sucker with him in the White House, the opposite is true. His election – and the fact that a stubborn 35-40 percent of the country still support him – is proof of that.

After spending years pledging that the United States wouldn’t pay a single cent for his wall, not only has he completely backed away from his promise to get Mexico to pay for it, but he is shamelessly asking taxpayers to foot the bill.

In response, his supporters aren’t groaning their disapproval at this obvious broken campaign promise. Instead, they’re actually putting their own money toward funding the project.

If that isn’t the definition of a true sucker, I’m not sure what is.
