Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu of California told Donald Trump that he can take his “stupid vanity wall” and shove it.
In an interview on MSNBC, the Democrat said the president won’t get a single dollar of funding for his wall after spending the entire campaign pledging that Mexico would pay for it.
“Democrats are certainly happy to talk about border security, but we’re not going to build this stupid vanity wall of Donald Trump with U.S. taxpayer dollars,” Lieu said.

Rep. Lieu said:
Let me remind American people what Donald Trump said last week, quote, I am proud to shut down the government, end quote. We are now in day one of the Trump shutdown. It is not a proud day for America. It is a failure of the Republican leadership. They control the House, the Senate, and the White House. Democrats are certainly happy to talk about border security, but we’re not going to build this stupid vanity wall of Donald Trump with U.S. taxpayer dollars.
Rep. Ted Lieu and other leaders in the Democratic party aren’t caving to Donald Trump‘s ridiculous and unpopular demands. They know they have the president right where they want him.
Not only did Trump go on live television and tell Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer that he would be proud to own a potential government shutdown, but he’s holding the government hostage over a policy that the vast majority of the country does not want.
Before the shutdown, a Morning Consult poll found that 55 percent of Americans, including 34 percent of Republicans, said it’s not worth it to shut down the federal government over Trump‘s border wall.
Not to mention: The American people overwhelmingly voted last month to install members of Congress who would not be puppets of the president and his agenda.
With Donald Trump and his lapdog Republican allies in Congress responsible for yet another government shutdown, Democrats aren’t about to help dig them out of their own hole.
