Trump has lost his appeal to the Supreme Court to implement his ban on asylum seekers who cross the US-Mexico border illegally.
The court voted 5-4 against Trump:
Trump was trying to get permission to enforce the ban while the case is working its way through the court system, but the Supreme Court said no. This is the second big loss for Trump and his party with the conservative majority court in less than two weeks as new Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh ruled against Republican-run states that were trying to strip funding from Planned Parenthood.
This court is conservative, but it is clearly not going to be a rubber stamp for Trump and the Republican Party.
Trump’s asylum ban isn’t going to survive and even the conservative majority on the Supreme Court is not unified in letting him curb stomp the Constitution.
