Democratic Sen. Mazie Hirono of Hawaii called literal BS on Donald Trump for leading the government to a potential shutdown because right-wing media personalities told him to.
In an interview with MSNBC‘s Chris Hayes on Thursday, the outspoken Trump critic said the president will have to own it if the federal government doesn’t stay open. Any claim that it’s the fault of Democrats is “bulls**t,” she said.
Hirono said after both parties reached an agreement to keep the government open on Wednesday, Trump did a complete 180 because of “some right-wing loud people yelling at him on Fox News.”
“Any effort on his part to blame the Democrats will be such bulls*** that, as I said before, I would hardly be able to stand it,” Hirono told the MSNBC host.

Sen. Hirono said:
The Senate did the responsible thing last night by keeping government running, passing this bill by a voice vote. And only to have President Trump get all worked up because he’s got some right-wing loud people yelling at him on Fox News and suddenly he says, ‘Well, I don’t think I’m going to sign it.’ So it is very true that he will bring on the shutdown and he has to take responsibility for it. Any effort on his part to blame the Democrats will be such bulls*** that, as I said before, I would hardly be able to stand it.
Without no adult supervision left in the White House, especially after Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis announced his resignation, the administration appears to be in the complete control of right-wing lunatics on Fox News and other right-wing outlets.
As MSNBC’s Chris Matthews said on Thursday, right-wing extremists like Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter are calling the shots on the government shutdown. Without them issuing marching orders on Thursday, the U.S. government likely wouldn’t be on the brink of another shutdown.
Ultimately, these crazy voices are no longer just spewing nonsense on right-wing media outlets; they’re running the government.
