I think what Sanders meant to say is that her legacy will be destroying the trust in and credibility of the White House press briefing. Sanders has done more damage to the public trust in the presidency than anyone not named Trump.
Sarah Sanders will leave a legacy of lies, avoidance, and dodging the press behind when she leaves the White House. Sarah Sanders has been one of Trump’s biggest enablers. It was Sanders who helped to draft the “rules” that reporters must follow to keep their White House press credentials.
By definition, the White House Press Secretary is going to have a relationship with the free press that will contain conflict, but Sarah Sanders used the White House press briefing platform to lie to the American people and vilify members of the press who are only trying to do their jobs by informing the public.
History will not give Sarah Sanders a pleasant footnote. She will be remembered for the lies she has told and the damage that she has done. Honesty and transparency will never be words that anyone will use to describe her legacy.
