Trump canceled his formal meeting with Putin, and now the White House announced that Trump wouldn’t informally meet with him either.
According to the White House Press Pool as provided to PoliticusUSA, “Asked about Russian reports that POTUS and President Putin may still have an impromptu discussion on the sidelines of the G-20 summit, a White House official tells co-pooler Andrew Restuccia: “There is no scheduled pull aside.”
The key word is scheduled. Trump could still meet with Putin in an unscheduled manner, but everything about Trump’s behavior at the G-20 suggests that he is running scared from Mueller and trying to play it safe. Trump is acting guilty by now trying to distance himself from Putin.
It is a suggestion that something bad, even worse than Michael Cohen’s admission that Trump was still trying to do deals with Russia while running for president is set to drop.
Trump is pulling one of his favorite stunts. The president is trying to pretend like there is no Trump/Russia relationship by keeping his distance from Putin.
Mueller has Trump terrified because it doesn’t matter what the president does at the G-20, the special counsel already has the evidence.
