Trump Tantrums And Threatens GM After Announced Plant Closures

Trump responded to General Motors closing plants in Ohio and Michigan by throwing a tantrum and threatening the American automaker.

Trump said, “Well, we don’t like it. I believe they’ll be opening up something else and I was very tough. I spoke with her when I heard they were closing and I said, you know, this country has done a lot for General Motors. You better get back in there soon, that’s Ohio. And so, we have a lot of pressure on you have senators, a lot of other people, a lot of pressure. They say the Chevy Cruze is not selling well. I say then get a car that is selling well and put it back in. The car is not selling well so they’ll put something else. I have no doubt that in the not too distant future, they’ll put something else. They better put something else in.”

Trump Tried To Threaten A US Automaker To Save His Reelection

Trump doesn’t care about people in Michigan and Ohio losing their jobs. He cares that people in Michigan and Ohio are going to lose their jobs during the 2020 election campaign. Reality is kicking Trump’s fantasy about bringing manufacturing back in the shin. There is nothing that Trump can do if GM closes plants in Ohio and Michigan. He can tweet. He can rant and rave, but he can’t stop GM from running their business any way that they want.

The President Of The United States threatened a US automaker, but this isn’t reality television or the presidential campaign. Trump knows that if these jobs go away, he is going to be blamed, and for an unpopular president who fluked his way into the White House, the bad press caused by these plant closing in 2020 could be enough to make him a one-term president.
