Alan Dershowitz, who is a frequent critic of the Mueller investigation, says that the Mueller report will be politically devastating for Trump.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Let’s — let’s — let’s stipulate there. Let’s just talk about the information. So we’re getting information from Paul Manafort, we’re getting information perhaps from Corsi, we’ve already been (ph) getting from Gates, from Cohen from — that’s an awful lot of people side of the (ph) president providing evidence.

DERSHOWITZ: It is. And I think the report is going to be devastating to the president. And I know that the president’s team is already working on a response to the report. And so at some point when the report’s made public — and that’s a very hard question considering the new attorney general, who has the authority to decide when and under what circumstance to make it public — it will be made public probably with a response alongside. The president will say ah, look, it’s political. There’s their account and there’s our account and then the American public will have to —

The Mueller Report Will Be Political Mega Bomb That Trump Will Dealing With For Years

Those who closely follow the Mueller investigation can get hung up on indictments and criminal proceedings, but it is important to remember that the most damaging impact of this investigation for Trump is going to be political. Trump isn’t going to be criminally charged by Mueller, but the special counsel report is going to paint a picture of Trump as a man who obstructed justice, tampered with witnesses, and potentially committed crimes against his country.

The political fallout from this report isn’t going to go away in a week, or a month, or a year. Decades later, Bill Clinton is still haunted by the ghost of the Lewinsky scandal, and that wasn’t criminal.

The day when Robert Mueller‘s report becomes public will be the moment when the Trump presidency goes on life support.

Trump and the Republicans are laying the groundwork to fight the report, which is why James Comey and Loretta Lynch were subpoenaed by House Republicans.

The Mueller report is coming, and when it hits, it will change American politics for years to come.
