Trump tried to pick a fight with Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who responded by shredding the president in his favorite forum of Twitter.
Schiff has refused to get in the sewer with Trump but did respond by pointing a big dose of presidential hypocrisy:
Trump wants decorum from journalists and threatens to throw them out of the White House while behaving like a child on Twitter. Decorum starts in the Oval Office, and this administration has been a disgrace to the institution of the presidency on that front.
Trump’s tweets are the way that he winds himself up. The president is planning on targeting Adam Schiff, but the congressman who will be soon be chairing the House Russia investigation is not going to take the bait. Rep. Schiff is remaining above the reality show drama that Trump is trying to create and showing this White House that oversight is coming.
It isn’t Schiff’s job to tweet insults back and forth with Trump.
His job is to hold the administration accountable by acting a check on the Executive Branch.
Trump is going to distract the House Democrats with his antics.
He can tweet all he wants, but he is not going to be able to stop the House majority from doing the sort of oversight and investigations that Republicans refused to do.
The game is about to change, and Trump has no idea what’s coming.
