Since Republicans were dealt a massive blow in last week’s elections, Donald Trump has essentially refused to carry out the basic functions of his job.
As the Washington Post pointed out, Trump has spent the days since the midterms essentially doing nothing but throwing tantrums and whining about his media coverage.
On Wednesday, former Vice President Joe Biden stepped up to the plate and filled this vast presidential void with a message that the country needed to hear regarding Florida’s recount.
“Instead of saying every legal vote should be counted in Florida, Republicans have adopted a strategy to discredit the process,” the former VP said.
Biden’s goal was clear. He wanted to turn down the political temperature a bit and bring people together around the crazy concept that every lawful vote should be counted.

We need to lower the temperature,” Biden said Wednesday. “We need to remember what’s at stake in maintaining the confidence in the legitimacy of our elections. When this is over, no matter who wins, we need to be able to say that every lawful vote was counted.”
Biden didn’t just deliver the message that America needed to hear following last week’s contentious midterm elections – and the GOP attempt to prevent votes from being counted.
The former vice president is also setting the stage for a candidacy of his own by presenting himself as the sensible statesman the country needs at a time like this.
While the Trump era has been defined by chaos and division, Biden is appealing to the country with a message of unity and stability.
