Maxine Waters Tells Trump That His Time Is Up As Democrats Have Figured Out How To Defeat Him

Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters told Donald Trump on Tuesday that his time of running an unchecked administration is up as Democrats have figured out how to defeat him.

In an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, Waters said that her party’s strategy of not taking Trump’s bait – and instead sticking to the issues that people care about – appears to be working.

On Tuesday, Democrats are poised to make gains based on this strategy.

“I think we are being very successful talking about our issues,” the Democratic congresswoman said. “We are winning because of that.”

Rep. Waters said:

I think that we have learned a lot about this president and the way that he manipulates the press and the way that he tries to divert our attention from the real issues. And what we have learned is not to allow him to get away with that. And so I think we are being very successful talking about our issues, talking about health care, which is a very important issue in this country, talking about housing, Medicare, Social Security, talking about the infrastructure, and we are winning because of that.

While Trump spews hate, Democrats are laser-focused on the issues

While Donald Trump is trying to scare up voters about immigrants and caravans, Democrats have been laser-focused on the issues that matter to the average voter.

Instead of following every shiny Trump object, strong progressive candidates all across the country have essentially ignored the president’s distractions in favor of substantive policy arguments that appeal to wide swaths of Americans.

As voters prepare to cast their ballots on Tuesday, polling suggests that this new Democratic strategy is working and Trump’s time of unchecked power is running out.
