Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) delivered a simple but powerful closing message for the Democrats. Schatz said that Republicans are corrupt and Democrats are here to stop them.

Schatz was talking about how Republicans have nothing to run on but lies on MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes when he said, “I know how these guys work. They sit down. They try to figure out what they’ve done that is popular. They run a poll. They sit down with their operatives, and they figure out what they’re going to talk about. If they’re at the point talking about a caravan of people 1,000 miles away of unarmed individuals, if that’s the thing they’re closing with, it means that nothing that they are for, nothing that they plan to do or nothing they have done is at all popular. That’s why we’re going to close on the following message. We’re going to protect your health care, and they are corrupt, and we are here to stop them.”

Democrats have a simple and powerful closing message

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has already said that Republicans are coming for Social Security and Medicare to pay for their tax cuts for the rich and corporations. Republicans have consistently demonstrated that they are fundamentally corrupt and ignoring what the majority of the country wants since Trump took office.

Democrats have often struggled with closing arguments to voters in non-presidential election years, but in 2018 they have a simple and rock solid message. Trump and the Republicans are corrupt, and Democrats are the party that will stop them. If you want Trump and the Republicans stopped vote Democrat.

It’s that clear and simple.

If you want your healthcare, Social Security, and Medicare to be taken away, vote Republican because that’s what they are promising to do.

Democrats have a great message, and it shows why they are on pace for a big election night next Tuesday.
