MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace ended a discussion of White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders press briefing by reminding viewers that she has a policy of not showing Sanders on her show.
After Ashley Parker of The Washington Post recapped the briefing and how this White House is behaving, Wallace said, “Sarah Huckabee Sanders was mad as a wasp on Twitter and in that press conference today. She was exactly as Ashley Parker described. We would show it to you but we have a policy at 4:00 not to air Sarah Huckabee Sanders on television so you will have to take our word for it.”

There is no good reason for Nicolle Wallace to show Sarah Huckabee Sanders on her show. The briefings, on the rare occasions that they do happen, occur hours before her show airs. There is little news value for Nicolle Wallace to spend any of her 42 minutes of airtime a day showing Sanders.
It is my belief that the White House cut back on these press briefings once Trump realized that the press wasn’t going to allow them to be infomercial propaganda shows for his administration. For the same reason that many cable news shows don’t cover Trump’s tweets, Wallace has decided not to show Sanders.
The briefings should be covered as news, which is what Nicolle Wallace does. She doesn’t give the press secretary’s lies any airtime.
As Nicolle Wallace is demonstrating, it is possible to cover the news without giving a platform to propaganda.
