Bernie Sanders Calls Out Mitch McConnell’s Thuggery On Kavanaugh Nomination

Last updated on September 25th, 2023 at 02:08 pm

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) called out Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for trying bully undecided Republican Senators to vote for Brett Kavanaugh.

Video:

Sanders said, “What he is saying to Collins, and Murkowski and Flake is okay, you wanted this FBI investigation? Here it is, and now vote with us. End of discussion. And I think that is really an outrageous way to run the Senate, and I think the American people, no matter how they may feel about Kavanaugh want to get at the truth of the matter. Dr. Ford and the other women that came forward, at great personal risk to themselves, their lives have been changed an altered in a way that will never be the same, and they came forward as credible people, and they deserve a thorough investigation as to the allegations that they are making.”

Mitch McConnell is trying to thug Brett Kavanaugh on to the Supreme Court

Let’s be real. Mitch McConnell doesn’t have the votes to confirm Brett Kavanaugh, so he is trying to bully and thug his members into supporting the nominee. McConnell’s statements aren’t meant to pressure Democrats. The odds are that every single Democrat is going to vote against him. McConnell’s tactics are intended to pressure Collins and Murkowski to fall in line or face the consequences.

McConnell is trying to bully his own party into putting an unfit judge on the Supreme Court.

Bernie Sanders was right. This is no way to run the Senate, which is why voters who are watching this need to vote to turn control of the Senate over to Democrats in a little more than a month.

Mitch McConnell has been a failure as Senate Majority Leader. He can’t build consensus. Bullying is all that he has, and if he fails on Kavanaugh, Republicans can kiss their Senate majority goodbye.
