Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Ronan Farrow reportedly has possession of Donald Trump tapes from when he started on NBC’s “The Apprentice,” it was reported Monday.
The tapes reportedly document Trump using the N-word and calling his son Eric Trump an R-Word.
In August, former White House staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman said that those in possession of the tape were sitting on it and would release it just before November’s midterm elections. We also reported in August that there were reports that the tapes were being closely guarded by members of the White House staff.
Controversial actor Tom Arnold reportedly confronted “The Apprentice” producer Mark Burnett at a Sunday night Emmy Awards party and told him that Farrow had possession of the tapes.
“Discussing last night’s incident with a group of party attendees, we hear an excited Arnold was asked if he actually had any Apprentice tapes of Trump and answered in the affirmative. He said they had been “handed over” to New Yorker journalist Farrow on Sunday,” the report said. The two then allegedly scuffled.
Arnold made his own post on Twitter, saying:
“In 15 years on The Apprentice Mark Burnett never attacked Donald Trump for making racist comments or sexually harassing women. Last night as I entered The Night Before The Emmy’s Party, Burnett violently attacked & choked me for doing a TV show about Trump doing those things.”
In August Arnold was on the Jimmy Kimmel show and discussed the tape at that time.
“I’ve seen this compilation tape,” Arnold told Kimmel. “If you’re on one of these reality shows — there’s compilation tapes of me doing horrible, disgusting things. Of course, I do horrible, disgusting things, but I’m also not running for president. I remember this tape I saw, and I described it exactly. He says the N-word, he calls Eric the R-word. Now they call it the N-word tape. I have friends that worked on that show, and I explained it exactly.”
Arnold has been talking about the tape for months and he has been called a liar. However, Arnold said that two people never called him a liar: Donald Trump and Mark Burnett.
There’s a reason for that, according to Arnold. He explained that Burnett is on the MGM board and that he and other board members are worried about the scandal involving these tapes. According to Arnold, the FCC requires that any conversation between a producer and host be filmed, because “The Apprentice” was technically a game show. So, MGM has tons of footage of Trump saying any manner of obscenities.
Omarosa says that she’s heard a tape of Donald Trump using the ‘n-word’ on the set of The Apprentice but Arnold maintains there is a lot more than that.
The new report suggests the Apprentice tapes could be on their way to publication. Witnesses Sunday night party said that after Arnold’s physical altercation with Burnett he told everyone around him in a loud voice that the Apprentice tapes had been handed over to Ronan Farrow.
Farrow is the son of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen, and he has made a name for himself in the field of journalism. His byline has been attached to prominent #metoo stories, and his pieces on the sexual abuse accusations against Harvey Weinstein earned him a Pulitzer prize.
It is not clear what Farrow will do with the tapes that he has in possession, but we can assume that as an investigative journalist he will do his own due diligence and then release to the public what he thinks we need to know.
