The president who has been accused by dozens of women of sexual assault and sexual harassment is refusing to withdraw the nomination of his Supreme Court nominee who is accused of sexual assault.
Politico reported:
A lawyer close to the White House said the nomination would not be withdrawn.
“No way, not even a hint of it,” the lawyer said. “If anything, it’s the opposite. If somebody can be brought down by accusations like this, then you, me, every man certainly should be worried. We can all be accused of something.”
The White House response to the allegation against their Supreme Court nominee was not unexpected, but still nauseating. A president with character or even a shred of decency would not stand by a nominee who is accused of sexual assault, but Trump has a consistent pattern of hiring staff who like him have been accused of sexual assault.
Trump is an alleged serial sexual assaulter, so he is going to view sex crimes by his nominees as no big deal.
If Kavanaugh is going to be stopped, it is going to take Republican Senate votes to get it done. The Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee are defending Kavanaugh, so the showdown will have to come on the Senate floor, where it will be up to Republicans to shoot down Trump‘s nominee.
