To Keep Trump From Testifying, Cohen Tries to Tear Up Daniels Contract

The shell company established by Michael Cohen has agreed to tear up the 2016 “hush money” agreement with Trump mistress Stormy Daniels — and demanded that she repay the $130,000 payment she received, according to CNN. They also reported that Cohen’s lawyer claims that this latest action will “effectively put an end to the lawsuits” filed by Daniels.

A reporter from CNN tweeted:

“Michael Cohen’s shell company, Essential Consultants, agrees to tear up the original 2016 agreement with Stormy Daniels, in which Cohen arranged to pay her $130,000 to stay silent about her alleged affair with Donald Trump. It’s also requesting Stormy pay back the $130,000.”

Cohen lawyer Brent Blakely: “Today, Essential Consultants LLC and Michael Cohen have effectively put an end to the lawsuits filed against them by Stephanie Clifford aka Stormy Daniels.“ Adds Stormy is required to pay back the $130,000 per California law.”

In addition, the Washington Post reported that:

The company created by President Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen sought Friday to void the nondisclosure agreement at issue in a lawsuit filed by Stormy Daniels, the adult-film actress who was paid to keep quiet about her alleged affair with Trump ahead of the 2016 election.”

“The move by Essential Consultants seeks to avoid further litigation over the nondisclosure agreement, which was negotiated by Cohen on Trump’s behalf.”

What’s really going on here is that Michael Cohen and Donald Trump are trying to avoid the litigation against them, because they fear Michael Avenatti and what might be disclosed during the discovery phase of the lawsuit.

Michael Avenatti has sworn that he and Daniels will never settle this lawsuit, because he wants the truth to come out concerning not just Michael Cohen’s actions, but also Donald Trump’s.

After the announcement yesterday Avenatti tweeted:

Michael Cohen is back to playing games and trying to protect Donald Trump. He is now pulling a legal stunt to try and “fix it” so that we can’t depose Trump and present evidence to the American people about what happened. He is not a hero nor a patriot. He deserves what he gets.”

Let me be clear – my client and I will never settle the cases absent full disclosure and accountability. We are committed to the truth. And we are committed to delivering it to the American people.”

There is no question that Michael Cohen is trying to help Donald Trump avoid sitting for a deposition under oath by now offering to tear up the hush money agreement with Stormy Daniels. There is also no question that Michael Avenatti will do everything in his power to make that deposition happen.

Avenatti may not be a good politician, and he may never be elected to the presidency or any other office, but he certainly is an excellent attorney. Based on his track record, it is likely that he will prevail and Donald Trump will be forced to submit to a deposition so that Avenatti — and the American people — can discover the truth about the president’s crimes and misdeeds.
