Bob Woodward’s new book on Trump contains an account of Trump mocking Southern accents and referring to Attorney General Jeff Sessions as “mentally retarded.”
The Washington Post obtained Woodward’s new book and reported on this account:
A near-constant subject of withering presidential attacks was Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Trump told Porter that Sessions was a “traitor” for recusing himself from overseeing the Russia investigation, Woodward writes. Mocking Sessions’s accent, Trump added, “This guy is mentally retarded. He’s this dumb Southerner. … He couldn’t even be a one-person country lawyer down in Alabama.”
The President of the United States used the r-word to mock that people from the South speak, and he insisted that his attorney general was mentally disabled. Jeff Sessions is a former US Senator, whether or not you agree or disagree with Sessions, the one thing that was never questioned was his mental abilities or intelligence.
I don’t believe in using the r-word in publication or any form of communication, but when the President uses such vile language, it needs to be placed into print for all of the country to see.
Donald Trump is mocking the same people who are some of his strongest supporters. Trump has no gratitude or loyalty. He believes that everyone who isn’t rich like him or speaks like him is inferior.
Trump conned the South into voting for him, and despite his mocking, they’ll probably vote for him again in 2020.
What we have in the White House currently is more than a bad president.
Trump is a vile human being who shouldn’t be trusted with any authority or power, much less the Executive Branch of the United States government.
