Pence Thinks God Wants Him to Be President After Trump Scandals

Trump biographer Michael D’Antonio told CNN on Tuesday that Vice President Mike Pence believes he is on a mission from God — to become president. Also, since God wants him to be president, he believes that President Trump’s many scandals will be his ticket to the Oval Office.

D’Antonio claimed that Pence is preparing himself to take over as president should Trump’s scandals cause him to leave office.

D’Antonio said:

“Absolutely everything Mike Pence does is oriented toward him becoming president. His decision to accept Donald Trump’s offer to be his running mate — it even goes back much further. By the time he had left high school, he had decided that he was going to be president of the United States… He thought God was calling him to, now, be vice president and function as a president-in-waiting.”

D’Antonio then spoke of the various Trump scandals, which came to the forefront last week with the criminal conviction of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and the eight guilty pleas of former Trump attorney Michael Cohen, two of which implicated the president directly.

“We see Donald Trump in this huge crisis, this rolling chaos,” D’Antonio said. “And I think, with every day, Mike Pence imagines he’s one day closer to the Oval Office.”

CNN host John Berman asked D’Antonio if he thinks that the vice president is scheming and manipulating in order to get to the Oval Office at Trump’s expense.

“Oh, I think yes,” he replied. “I think he’s positioning himself to be the normal guy — the guy you can trust.”

D’Antonio gave the CNN interview promoting his new book — “The Shadow President: The Truth About Mike Pence” he wrote with Peter Eisner.

In the book the authors write that the vice president’s steady rise in politics through the years has been carefully calculated.

They contrast Pence’s career with that of Donald Trump, and also compare the different ways they use mass media.

For example, Pence used to have a radio show in Indiana and jokingly says that he is “Rush Limbaugh on decaf.”

The book calls Pence a “replacement president,” in that he often has gone to events instead of the president, such as his trips this year to Israel and South Korea where he presided over historically important events.

Because of the vice president’s strong political connections to the religious right and his pull with powerful Christian and right-wing fundraising groups, D’Antonio and Eisner call Pence a “shadow president.

As to whether or not God wants to make Mike Pence president, that remains to be seen.
