After the deadly mass shooting in Jacksonville Donald Trump did not publicly address the horrible tragedy. Instead he spent that time on Twitter complaining that he doesn’t get enough credit for his supposed accomplishments, while also telling more lies. He lied about his approval rating, saying it is much higher than it is, and also lied about the stock market and the state of the economy.
He started of the day with this early morning tweet:
Fantastic numbers on consumer spending released on Friday. Stock Market hits all time high!

Of course the Dow Jones Industrial Average is 800 points below its all-time high in January, but Trump is blissfully unaware of that so he just tweets what he wants.
It could be that Donald Trump is not only suffering from dementia but is also starting to hallucinate. His hold on reality seems very loose and tenuous at this point. He clearly wanted the American people to ignore the fact that several more Americans are dead from another mass shooting. He also wanted to distract attention from John McCain, who received very positive media coverage throughout the day.
Despite two major events that the media was focused on, Trump tried to divert attention and make it all about him.
Just three hours after the Jacksonville shooting, for example, the president tweeted a quote from a pro-Trump propaganda site, The Washington Times, which claimed that President Obama is getting too much credit for the economy while also lying about Obama’s economic record:
“Mainstream Media tries to rewrite history to credit Obama for Trump accomplishments. Since President Trump took office, the economy is booming. The stronger the economy gets, the more desperate his critics are. O had weakest recovery since Great Depression.” @WashTimes

This tweet proved that Trump was out of touch with the real world, since he still hadn’t addressed the Jacksonville tragedy.
Then, five hours after the tragic shooting, Trump posted this tweet:
“Over 90% approval rating for your all time favorite (I hope) President within the Republican Party and 52% overall. This despite all of the made up stories by the Fake News Media trying endlessly to make me look as bad and evil as possible. Look at the real villains please!”

Sadly, Trump has deluded himself into thinking is the “all time favorite” president. If that isn’t out of touch with reality, then I don’t know what is. Plus, he overstated his approval rating by about 10 percentage points, which is really sad.
He seems to be living in a world of make believe, grasping at fake stories and the delusional belief that he’s widely loved and respected.
It’s bad that we have a president who tries to focus media attention on himself while ignoring the death of one of America’s greatest heroes from the past fifty years, and also ignoring another tragic incidence of senseless gun violence.
What’s worse is that we have a president who is so out of touch with reality that he actually believes his own lies and believes that he is widely loved and respected in America.
But perhaps the worst thing of all is that Donald Trump doesn’t acknowledge that his legal troubles are catching up with him, and his days in the presidency are numbered.
