Fox News’ Conspiracy Narrative Crumbles As Their Own Poll Shows Surging Support For Mueller

The effort by Fox News to smear Robert Mueller appears to be failing spectacularly as their own poll now shows the American people widely supporting the special counsel investigation.

According to the survey released Wednesday, nearly 60 percent of the country approves of Mueller’s ongoing criminal probe into Trump’s ties to Russia and potential obstruction of justice crimes.

The numbers mark a stunning 11-point surge of support for Mueller’s probe. In July’s Fox News poll, a 48 percent plurality supported the investigation. In June, the approval of the special counsel inquiry stood at 55 percent. July’s 59 percent hits the highest point of support for Mueller to date.

And there was no ambiguity in the line of questioning. The survey asked, “Do you approve or disapprove of Robert Mueller’s investigation of the Trump campaign’s ties with Russia and potential obstruction of justice charges against members of the Trump administration?”

In short: The American people approve of the thorough investigation Mueller has conducted and continues to conduct. They don’t believe it’s a witch hunt. In fact, they are signaling that they want it to carry on until all the facts are uncovered.

I hate to break it to you, Sean Hannity and Jeanine Pirro, but your unhinged on-air ramblings don’t appear to be fooling reality-based Americans.

This spells major political trouble for Trump

While Trump has faced increasing legal trouble for months, the one silver lining in his eyes is that he has maintained enough political support to avoid complete collapse.

After all, as I noted a short time ago, the first step to holding a president accountable through the legal process is to carry out the political act of impeachment.

The fact that the American people are increasingly supportive of Mueller’s investigation signals that Trump’s corruption is taking a political toll, in addition to the legal trouble he faces.

If it continues in this direction, Republicans will likely have no political choice but to break with Trump and start doing their jobs.
