Trump Allies Breitbart & Fox News Slam House GOP For Impeaching Rosenstein

Two of Donald Trump’s biggest media supporters, Breitbart and Fox News, both expressed criticism on Wednesday of the House Republicans who filed articles of impeachment against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

Breitbart News editor Joel Pollak, a longtime ally and strong backer of Trump, said the move by the House Freedom Caucus leaders Reps. Mark Meadows (R-NC) and Jim Jordan (R-OH) may hurt the president. Pollak said the impeachment resolution against Rosenstein would not be successful, and also said it was unwise to consider in the first place.

Where are the “high crimes and misdemeanors” in the Rosenstein indictment? How does it not set a low bar for the political impeachment of Trump?”

Pollak isn’t the only Trump supporter to question the impeachment resolution against Rosenstein either.

Fox News legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano said the House action was “embarrassing.”  He appeared on Fox & Friends on Thursday, saying:

“The constitution says that there’s a very very narrow basis for impeachment and that’s intentional. If it were a broad basis people would be getting kicked out of office left and right. Treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors. When Bill Clinton was impeached, it was obstructing justice by lying under oath so it has to be something of that magnitude.”

“Improperly signing off on a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court warrant or staying in a position of conflict of interest could certainly be ethical violations but aren’t grounds for impeachment.”

The Fox News legal analyst also said he believes the Department of Justice (DOJ) is going to “cough up” the documents that the House Republicans are seeking. As a result, he believes that impeachment was not necessary as well as “wrong and baseless and embarrassing for everybody involved.”

As we reported yesterday:

“The ranking Democrats on the House Judiciary, Oversight, and Intelligence Committees issued a joint statement declaring that House Freedom Caucus effort to impeach Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has no chance of removing Rosenstein.”

Because the impeachment resolution doesn’t have a chance of succeeding it is now apparent that it is just a publicity stunt by the House Freedom Caucus. People like Jim Jordan always want to appear tough and in control, even when they are weak and powerless to do anything against the U.S. Department of Justice.

The fact that Jordan and Meadows have been attacked and put down by the likes of Breitbart and Fox News is a clear indication that they have gone off the rails and their actions are self defeating.
