Ivanka Trump Shuts Down Her Clothing Line After Sales Plummet

Ivanka Trump announced that she was shutting down her clothing line, as her father’s presidency continues to destroy the Trump brand.

The Wall Street Journal reported:
Ivanka Trump, President Donald Trump’s daughter, is closing her namesake fashion brand, more than a year after she formally separated herself from the company and entered the White House as a senior adviser.

…..

The business is privately held and doesn’t disclose sales or other financial information. Online sales of the Ivanka Trump brand sold at Amazon.com, Macy’s Inc., Bloomingdale’s and Zappos.com fell nearly 45% in the 12 months to June, compared with the year-earlier period, according to Rakuten Intelligence, which gathers email receipts from 5.5 million U.S. consumers.

The Ivanka Trump clothing line sales skyrocketed during the 2016 election but plunged as the backlash grew after her father took office. The Journal reported that Ivanka was frustrated with White House rules put in place to avoid conflicts of interest, so she shut the clothing line down.

To put it another way, sales were dropping, and Ivanka could not easily use the White House to profit by selling her clothes, she decided to shut the brand down instead of behaving in a responsible and ethical manner.

An ethics complaint was filed against Kellyanne Conway in February 2017 for using her White House position to go on Fox News and promote Ivanka Trump’s clothing line.

The Trump family apparently views the presidency as one giant cash grab. Ivanka will no longer be able to graft off of the White House to sell her clothes, but what her decision to shut down the clothing line says about the damaged state of the Trump brand speaks volumes.

Donald Trump spent decades building up a name brand, which he is destroying for himself and his family through his time in the White House.

The Trump name is damaged goods as the vast majority of Americans be caught dead wearing anything with Ivanka’s name on it.
