GOP Sen. Bob Corker Slams Trump’s ‘Welfare’ for Farmers to Fix Trade War Problem That He Created

Republican Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee said “the Trump-Pence tariffs are hurting the American people” as they’re now “offering welfare to farmers to solve a problem they themselves created.”

The Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee released on Tuesday a statement following reports that the Trump administration is thinking of offering $12 billion to farmers to ease the pain caused by… the Trump administration’s tariff wars.

“I am glad that the administration finally seems to understand that the Trump-Pence tariffs are hurting the American people,” said Corker.

“These tariffs are a massive tax increase on American consumers and businesses, and instead of offering welfare to farmers to solve a problem they themselves created, the administration should reverse course and end this incoherent policy. We will continue to push for a binding vote here in Congress to reassert our constitutional role on national security-designated tariffs.”

Offering $12 billion dollars in welfare to make up for a self-imposed problem seems right on par with how Republicans have been performing as “fiscal conservatives” during the last decade.

There is endless money to be charged to the taxpayer for Trump family trips and making up for Trump mistakes. But no money for the vulnerable and the poor. The Trump tax cuts are already corresponding with lower wages, according to work by Bloomberg.

All around, this Republican economy is a joke of welfare to make up for Trump tariffs for some Trump voters and the wealthiest and the greediest.
