Transcript:
Andrea Mitchell: We have some breaking news. The white house has announced on Twitter that Vladimir Putin is coming to the white house in the fall.
Coats: Say that again.
Mitchell: Vladimir Putin coming to the White House —
Coats: Did I hear you?
Mitchell: Yeah, yeah.
Coats: Okay. That’s going to be special.
The man who is in charge of the intelligence apparatus that is supposed to keep American safe from hostile foreign actors like Putin had no idea that his boss just invited an enemy of the US to the White House.
The country has become somewhat jaded about Trump’s reckless and impulsive behavior, but this is something much worse. The President Of The United States is acting independently of the United States government. It isn’t just that Trump doesn’t listen to his advisers. Top government officials have no idea what he is doing. Bad governance is one thing, but what is happening at the White House is no governance at all.
Trump has plunged the country into the crisis, and the American people must rally to make sure that Putin does not set foot inside the White House.
