Stormy Daniels Arrested in Ohio And Charged With Sex Crimes

Adult actress Stormy Daniels, who has said she had an affair with Donald Trump and is suing the president, was arrested for three misdemeanor sex crimes during a strip performance at a Columbus, Ohio adult nightclub, her lawyer Michael Avenatti reported early Thursday morning.

“Just rcvd word that my client @StormyDaniels was arrested in Columbus Ohio whole performing the same act she has performed across the nation at nearly a hundred strip clubs. This was a setup & politically motivated. It reeks of desperation. We will fight all bogus charges.”

Avenatti told NBC News that Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, was illegally touched while she was performing on stage. Even though the touching was “in a non-sexual manner” the fact that it occurred was still a violation of the Ohio law known as the “Community Defense Act.” This law prohibits anyone who isn’t a member of the adult performer’s family to touch a nude or semi-nude dancer while he or she is performing.

“She was arrested for allegedly allowing a customer to touch her while on stage in a non sexual manner! Are you kidding me? They are devoting law enforcement resources to sting operations for this? There has to be higher priorities!!! #SetUp

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office later confirmed that Daniels had been charged with three non-felony (misdemeanor) offenses.

“We expect her to be released on bail shortly. We also expect that she will be charged with a misdemeanor for allowing “touching.” We will vehemently contest all charges.”

Avenatti said that Daniels is scheduled for a court appearance on Friday. He also said that  that Daniels intended to plead not guilty.

My client @StormyDaniels will issue a plea of “Not Guilty” to the three misdemeanor charges.

Sirens Gentlemen’s Club in Columbus confirmed that Daniels had performed in their club on Wednesday night. Avenatti said that undercover vice officers arrested Daniels after she reportedly was touched by the customer.

“We are confident she will be cleared of all charges,” Avenatti said.
