Giuliani Says Michael Cohen Won’t Flip: “He’s Not Cooperating”

Donald Trump’s television lawyer Rudy Giuliani was back in front of the cameras on Wednesday night giving his opinions about Trump’s fixer-lawyer Michael Cohen. According to Giuliani the president has nothing to worry about.

Yesterday there were several media reports that Cohen will soon be arrested, has lost his legal counsel, and will soon begin to cooperate with federal prosecutors. The former New York City mayor told Laura Ingraham on Fox News that Cohen will not “flip” on Trump and more importantly that Cohen does not even have any information that would incriminate the president.

“He’s not cooperating nor do we care because the president did nothing wrong,” Giuliani told Ingraham. “I am absolutely certain of that.”

“Michael Cohen, I think, would tell you he’s got nothing incriminating with the president,” the president’s lawyer added.

Asked what would happen if Cohen did in fact begin cooperating with prosecutors, Giuliani said that he would be “very comfortable” if that happened.

“I empathize with Michael. I do not believe he is going to tell a falsehood. I think he’s going to tell the truth and we are very comfortable with that,” Giuliani maintained to the Fox News host.

Giuliani also brought up the possibility that special counsel Robert Mueller filed new witness tampering charges against Paul Manafort because Mueller’s original charges of tax fraud and money laundering against Manafort were “going under.”

Giuliani told Ingraham that in his opinion Cohen’s case was like Manafort’s and then made the preposterous suggestion that both men were completely innocent and none of Mueller’s charges would stick.

“Look at Manafort. Manafort was probably totally innocent in talking to these people, he wanted to find out what was going on with his case. And they’ve turned it into another charge against him,” Giuliani said.

Last week Mueller charged Manafort and a Russian colleague with witness tampering and suborning perjury.

Manafort will be in court on Friday for his arraignment on the new witness tampering charges. At the same time of the arraignment his judge in the prior criminal cases will listen to attorney arguments concerning whether or not Manafort’s $10 million bail should be revoked or revised.

After filing the new charges Mueller had requested last week that Manafort’s bail be revoked. If that happens the former Trump campaign manager will probably go to jail while he is waiting for his first of two criminal trials, which will begin on July 25th. Since his indictment by Mueller, Manafort has been free on bail and has been confined to his home.
