On the same broadcast this past Friday when Nicole Wallace, host of Deadline: White House, laid into Donald Trump for his persistent lying with impunity to the people of this nation, in a later segment Wallace reminded her viewers through one of her panelists why Mr. Trump is “utterly unfit” to be President of the United States.
Wallace is a self-professed “non-practicing Republican,” and while it still appears the Deadline host continues her identity struggle as someone ‘other than republican’, something tells me she will emerge from this identity struggle just fine.
Watch the following video where Wallace appears on The Conan Show providing an explanation as to why she identifies as someone ‘other’ than republican:
The trigger which launched Wallace’s question directed to New York Times reporter and conservative, Bret Stephens, was a report by The Washington Post which outlined the hostility between Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Kirstjen Neilsen and Mr. Trump due to his current immigration policy being ineffectual.
According to The Post, in another article, illegal border crossings have increased since Mr. Trump became President, and as a result, he has taken his frustration over the matter out on Neilson, leading the Secretary to draft her resignation letter while nearly forcing her to leave her post.
While this is yet another example of Mr. Trump’s ineffectual leadership and an example of the chaos within his administration, regardless his denials, this was not the worse part of the story.
According to writers Josh Dawsey and Nick Miroff from The Washington Post,
“the night before Trump delivered his first speech to Congress in February 2017, he huddled with senior adviser Jared Kushner and Miller in the Oval Office to talk immigration.”
Kushner and Miller allegedly persuaded Mr. Trump to “strike a gentler tone” on the issue of immigration for his speech, however with Trump not fully persuaded, the writers provide a detailed account which is highly disturbing considering we are talking about the leader of the free-world here.
According to Dawsey and Miroff:
“Trump reminded them the crowds loved his rhetoric on immigrants along the campaign trail. Acting as if he were at a rally, he recited a few made-up Hispanic names and described potential crimes they could have committed, such as rape or murder. Then, he said, the crowds would roar when the criminals were thrown out of the country — as they did when he highlighted crimes by illegal immigrants at his rallies, according to a person present for the exchange and another briefed on it later. Miller and Kushner laughed.”
“A senior White House official said that while the president did discuss the “crowd enthusiasm for crackdowns on criminal aliens,” the official disputed that Trump used Hispanic names to illustrate the point.”
The reader will note that the “Senior White House Official,” does not dispute the fact that Trump “acted as if he were at a rally,” nor the fact that Trump used made-up potential crimes this demographic could have committed which appealed to those attending his rallies, nor the fact that both Miller and Kushner found humor in such disgusting dialogue.
Bret Stephens from the New York Times, one of the panelists present for this segment of Wallace’s show, said the following about the incident:
“Well it’s not surprising. This is the President who made his mark coming down that escalator and making remarks that were very similar. But it’s another reminder of why he’s utterly unfit to be President of the United States. Something like seventeen percent of Americans are foreign born…my Mother was a refugee to this, uh, came as a refugee.
My father was born in Mexico. As a matter of statistical fact; immigrants, including illegal immigrants commit violent crimes at a much lower rate than Native-Born Americans. But it goes to the heart of his demagogic appeal to a nativist base and a form of xenophobic which has supplanted the kind of conservatism that attracted me as a kid under Ronald Reagan; America as a shining city on a hill.”

For her part, Wallace made clear Trump’s comments were “appalling.”
I’ve said this on previous occasions, but it is worth repeating here: When liberals or Democrats complain about Mr. Trump’s racism and bigotry, and failure of leadership, our conservative driven media entertainment complex ignores those statements.
However, when coming from conservative minded folks like Wallace and Stephens, the message is amplified, rightfully, and oh how important that is for our current situation.
Trump’s recent characterization of human beings who are part of an American born gang, as “animals,” reflects the mindset of racism and bigotry at its zenith.
Moreover, Trump’s commentary about Mexicans being rapists, when he launched his campaign is racist and bigoted, and in this report we find the truism that character is defined by “who one is when nobody else is looking.”
Let me be clear: THIS is who Mr. Trump is.
Each and every American should never forget the last lines on The Statue of Liberty, for they reflect what this country is really about; not Mr. Trump.
“With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
Let each of us place those words upon our hearts, lest we forget what America is really all about for it is clear Mr. Trump those who persist in supporting this agenda are clueless.
And do not lose heart or faith: While Mr. Trump obviously lacks the essential character and temperament to be President of this great land, as long as we the citizens do not forget what America is really all about, while maintaining character and integrity, I honestly believe we will make it safely through this temporary nightmare.
We all were warned by our former President, Barack Obama that Mr. Trump did not possess the essential temperament to be President of this great land, weren’t we? But also remember that Mr. Obama insisted that “we were the change” he consistently spoke of throughout his tenure.
You know what? Mr. Obama was and continues to be correct.
