As Mueller Closes In, Trump’s Lies Are Increasing At A Frantic Pace

Trump has gone 4.9 lies per day in the early days of his presidency to now telling a whopping nine lies per day. Trump’s lies grew by a third in two months which suggested that as Mueller closes in Trump is increasing the amount and pace of his lies.

Video:

The Washington Post reported, “In the 466 days since he took the oath of office, President Trump has made 3,001 false or misleading claims, according to The Fact Checker’s database that analyzes, categorizes and tracks every suspect statement uttered by the president. That’s an average of nearly 6.5 claims a day. When we first started this project for the president’s first 100 days, he averaged 4.9 claims a day. Slowly, the average number of claims has been creeping up. Indeed, since we last updated this tally two months ago, the president has averaged about 9 claims a day.”

The answer to why Trump is lying at a quickening pace isn’t difficult to find.

Trump responds to each new revelation in the scandals and investigations surrounding him by lying. Trump can’t counter with facts, so he responds to lies. Trump lied about knowledge of the payment to Stormy Daniels. Trump lied about his relationship with Michael Cohen. The Russia scandal has been its own cottage industry spin-off for Trump lies. Each development in the Russia probe gets met with a new Trump lie. Of course, Trump also lies about his political opponents, his own achievements, and even whether or not he is at work.

However, as Mueller has gotten closer to the Oval Office, Trump has been lying with increasing frequency. Panic has set in, and the president is trying to muddy the waters and keep his supporters by his side with an unprecedented landslide of lies.

Trump would have lied to matter what, but his increasing volume of lies is because Robert Mueller is hot on his trail.
