MSNBC’s Joy Reid pointed out that Trump called for arming teachers while speaking at the NRA convention which was a gun-free zone.
Video:
Trump said, “We strongly believe in allowing highly trained teachers to carry concealed weapons. Highly trained. 98% of mass public shootings have occurred in places where guns are banned. Just so you understand. Tragically as we have seen there is no sign more inviting to a mass killer than a sign that declares this school is a gun free zone. Come in and take us.”
Reid noted, “Donald Trump struck out the greatest hits before briefly talking about guns and the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida coming as Parkland students still dealing with the loss of classmates prepare for prom tonight. Trump briefly flirted with a tougher stance with the NRA after the shooting only to backpedal again. On Friday he backed the plan to arm teachers while speaking to a crowd in a gun free zone.”
Republicans are oblivious to their own hypocrisy. If the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, wouldn’t the NRA and Secret Service want to have a crowd full of Trump supporters with guns to “protect” the president?
Joy Reid pointed out the absurdity of Trump decrying gun free zones while speaking in a gun free zone.
If gun free zones are so dangerous, the first thing that Trump should do to prove his point is make every single one of his public appearances open carry.
Gun free zones invite mass killers, except when they are protecting Donald Trump.
