Shania Twain Is Showing That Donald Trump Is Radioactive

Republican consultant Rick Wilson wrote a book called “Everything Trump Touches Dies” and this morning’s news is showing just how true that is.  Canadian singer Shania Twain responded to an interview question by saying she would have voted for Trump if she could, because he seemed like he was “honest.”

In The Guardian Twain was quoted as saying, “I would have voted for him because, even though he was offensive, he seemed honest. Do you want straight or polite? Not that you shouldn’t be able to have both. If I were voting, I just don’t want bull——t. I would have voted for a feeling that it was transparent. And politics has a reputation of not being that, right?”

The backlash against Twain was immediate and severe.  Minutes after the interview was published, her name was the top trending item on Twitter. Even longtime fans were denouncing her and disowning her.

Her positive comments about the president may have killed her career comeback, so she has been doing her best to take back her fateful words.   She issued a statement to PEOPLE Magazine, saying, “I would like to apologize to anybody I have offended in a recent interview with The Guardian relating to the American president.”

The top-selling singer also posted a series of tweets in which she attempted to undo the damage caused by her words supporting the worst president in U.S. history.

“I would like to apologise to anybody I have offended in a recent interview with the Guardian relating to the American President. The question caught me off guard. As a Canadian, I regret answering this unexpected question without giving my response more context (1/4)”

“I am passionately against discrimination of any kind and hope it’s clear from the choices I have made, and the people I stand with, that I do not hold any common moral beliefs with the current President (2/4)”

“I was trying to explain, in response to a question about the election, that my limited understanding was that the President talked to a portion of America like an accessible person they could relate to, as he was NOT a politician (3/4)”

“My answer was awkward, but certainly should not be taken as representative of my values nor does it mean I endorse him. I make music to bring people together. My path will always be one of inclusivity, as my history shows. (4/4)”

This entire experience reminds us that while fans may be able to accept that their favorite singer supports an opposing political party, they won’t accept him or her supporting Donald Trump.  Trump is so bad he transcends politics. Supporting him is supporting everything that is bad in politics, in our world, and in the human race.

Many people have been expressing concern since Trump came into power that his morally reprehensible behavior might become normalized, and therefore acceptable.

But as Shania Twain pays the price for merely aligning herself with Trump in a magazine interview, I think we now can see that Trump is not acceptable but is in fact radioactive.  And everything he touches dies.
