While dignitaries and government officials from around the world gathered in Houston, TX for Barbara Bush’s funeral, Donald Trump used the funeral to promote his private club.
Someone who was obviously not Trump first tweeted from his account:
Today, my thoughts and prayers are with the entire Bush family. In memory of First Lady Barbara Bush, there is a remembrance display located at her portrait in the Center Hall of the @WhiteHouse. pic.twitter.com/AuJ3RLZyax

After a morning of golf, the real Trumpf ollowed up and tweeted 2 minutes later:
Heading to the Southern White House to watch the Funeral Service of Barbara Bush. First Lady Melania has arrived in Houston to pay our respects. Will be a beautiful day!

Former White House ethics chief, Walter Shaub pointed out that Trump’s reference to the “Southern White House” was an attempt to monetize the presidency:
This reference to the "Southern White House" is part of the campaign to monetize the presidency. Unlike the Mid-Atlantic White House, you can purchase unlimited access to the Southern White House and its chief occupant if you are willing to pay him $200,000 per year. pic.twitter.com/1dSZrZ6q4b

Trump is profiting off of the presidency by selling access to the president
There is no such thing as the “Southern White House.” Trump is using this term as a marketing pitch so that people will pay him $200,000 to join his private club. Trump has opened himself up to a lawsuit by claiming that his club is a White House because the White House is open to the public. If the club is a White House, then the visitor logs and other information about the operation of the facility must be made public.
Trump is both trying to make money off of the presidency and justify the millions of taxpayer dollars that he is spending on each trip to his Florida club. Trump has spent the entire week in Florida on the taxpayers’ dime. The week has been nothing but a glorified infomercial for his business.
Trump is stuffing his pockets with your money while using the platform of the presidency to make even more cash.
Corruption doesn’t even begin to describe the amount of damage that Trump is doing to our democracy and the institution of the presidency.
