Cohen’s Lawyer Tells Judge His Client Will Soon Be Indicted

Michael Cohen’s attorney Brent Blakely was in a Los Angeles court on Friday arguing that the lawsuit filed by Stormy Daniels against Donald Trump’s personal lawyer-fixer should be delayed. The reason given is that because Cohen will be indicted in the near future the civil lawsuit should not continue at this time.

“We’re asking for a brief hit-the-pause-button,” said Blakely. But in fact this is just the latest delay tactic by Cohen’s lawyers who are trying to delay their day of reckoning in a lawsuit which many people believe they will lose.  They had previously been asking for a 90-day delay to the lawsuit.  It was filed by Daniels and her attorney Michael Avenatti who argued that a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) she signed before the 2016 election was invalid because it had never been signed by Donald Trump, who could not be considered a party to the agreement.

U.S. District Court Judge S. James Otero postponed ruling on the matter until Wednesday.  It is believed that at that time Cohen may file a statement saying he will refuse to answer questions by invoking his protection against self-incrimination under the Fifth Amendment.

Earlier, Avenatti had also expressed his belief that Cohen would soon be the subject of a federal criminal indictment.  “There is zero question in my mind that Michael Cohen is going to be indicted for some very serious, pervasive conduct,” he said.

Cohen’s office, home and hotel room last week were the subject of a raid by the FBI who gathered evidence relating to the $130,000 payment he made to Daniels under a hush money agreement.

In arguing yesterday for the delay in the Daniels lawsuit,  Blakely argued that “the potential indictment of my client” puts Cohen “in a very difficult situation.” To support his position Blakely referred to Avenatti’s statements in the press saying that Cohen could be indicted.

Avenatti and others have also claimed that after the FBI obtained incriminating evidence in their raid, Cohen was now cooperating with the criminal investigation and would turn on Trump and be a witness against him.  Avenatti has been correct so far in his predictions and he has stated that Cohen “knows where all the bodies are buried.”

When Cohen is indicted it will put his client Donald Trump in significant legal jeopardy.  In fact a Cohen indictment may be the final nail in Donald Trump’s coffin.  Many people in America are hoping this will happen, and very soon.
