As expected, Trump was watching TV as reports of an FBI raid at the home of his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, broke, and as he always does when something on television triggers him, he reacted by lashing out.
CNN’s White House correspondent Jeff Zeleny told Wolf Blitzer that Trump learned about the raid after it had actually taken place but before it was reported by the media.
“I‘m told this afternoon the president was watching news coverage of this happening in the residence of the White House and now in the West Wing,” said Zeleny.
He further added, “This is captivating the president’s time and attention and also likely to spark anger from him. This is signed off by the Department of Justice and [Deputy Attorney General] Rod Rosenstein.”

After news of the raid became public, a clearly angry Trump attended a meeting meant to be about Syria and lashed out at the FBI, special counsel Robert Mueller, and Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
In regards to Cohen’s situation, he said, “I just heard that they broke into the office of one of my personal attorneys. Good man. And it’s a disgraceful situation. It’s a total witch hunt. It’s an attack on our country. It’s an attack on what we all stand for.”
He repeated his constant claim that the Russia investigation is a “witch hunt,” and said that it’s “getting ridiculous now.” He also complained about Sessions’ decision to recuse himself from the probe.
Trump is undoubtedly panicking about what authorities have dug up in Cohen’s house. Perhaps they’ve found evidence to finally put to rest Cohen’s ridiculous claim that he paid off porn actress Stormy Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about an affair she’d had with Trump in 2006 out of the goodness of his heart and not because Trump ordered him to.
