During an appearance on CBS This Morning on Monday, Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti pointed out how significant it is that Trump has yet to tweet about the affair allegations against him.
“Isn’t it interesting, Gayle, that we have a president that will tweet about the most mundane matters, but he won’t tweet about my client, the affair, the agreement or the $130,000 payment,” he said. “You know why he won’t tweet about it? Because it’s true. It’s 100 percent true.”
Daniels, an adult film actress, says she and Trump had an affair in 2006 and that she was paid $130,000 to keep quiet about it during the 2016 campaign.
In a 60 Minutes interview that aired on Sunday night, she also claimed that she was man threatened her in a Las Vegas parking lot after speaking with In Touch magazine about the affair. “Leave Trump alone. Forget the story,” she claims the man said, along with “That’s a beautiful little girl. It’d be a shame if something happened to her mom.”
Trump himself has yet to deny the story, but the White House has dismissed it as false and Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, claims that he was the person who paid Daniels the $130,000 and had her sign a non-disclosure agreement without being directed to do so — a claim Avenatti says is “laughable.”
Daniels and Avenatti appear ready to play hardball — the lawyer even tweeted a photo of a DVD suggesting it contains evidence of the affair — which definitely makes Trump’s uncharacteristic silence seem like he’s nervous about what the retaliation might be.
