On MSNBC, Lawrence O’Donnell explained the biggest difference in language and self-awareness that exists between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

Video:

O’Donnell said on MSNBC’s Deadline: White House, “In Joe Biden’s case, it is often not method. And I used to sit there on the Senate floor when — as a staff aide and Joe Biden would have a good solid 12 minute speech that would last 90 minutes because once Joe gets going, he keeps going and doesn’t need text and says things that come into his mind at that moment that he absolutely did not plan to say and know he didn’t because he has that judiciary committee hearing to go back to and still stand here and say this. So most of that is something that happened in that moment. I do think it is important to point out that the words of what Joe Biden said really matter and they’re very, very different from Trump language in this he said at the beginning, if we were in high school, they’re not in high school. So he’s just saying, this is a way into the way I used to think when I was a kid and this guy trump provokes in me the kinds of impulses you have when you are a kid, if we were in high school. And he said that right after he said would you beat the hell out of him. He says I shouldn’t have said that. Donald Trump has never done that. He’s never made it theoretical to if he is a kid. after a threat, or something poisonous, he never says I shouldn’t have said that. Joe Biden is self aware enough to know where he was when those words came out of his mouth. And so it is I very different thing from what Trump does.”

The easy, and very lazy connection for the press to draw between Joe Biden and Donald Trump will be too much for some to resist, but they should, because as Lawrence O’Donnell pointed out, Biden isn’t anything like Trump. The biggest reason that Biden isn’t like Trump is that he cares about people. Joe Biden is also a lifelong public servant. Biden has never talked about others in the same Trump talks about everyone who isn’t a white rich person. Besides their ages, Biden and Trump have little to nothing in common.

The panel on Deadline: White House mostly thought that Biden was going to run for president in 2020, and it would be surprising if he didn’t. Outside of his age. there is little reason for Biden not to run. Democrats don’t have to nominate him, but he would be a force in the Democratic primary in a way that no other candidates can be.

Biden is the anti-Trump, and it is clear with Trump’s over the top response to the former vice president, that Joe Biden is already deeply under Donald Trump’s skin.
