Adam Schiff Bravely Fought But House Republicans Just Effectively Killed Their Russia Investigation

House Intelligence Committee Republicans continue to show why they are accessories to Trump’s Russia cover-up by denying a Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) for an open hearing where witnesses could be subpoenaed, and Steve Bannon could be held in contempt.

CNN’s Manu Raju tweeted:

The Republicans are begging to be investigated

House Republicans are giving the Special Counsel more reason to investigate them. It is obvious that Republicans are covering up for Trump. Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) is already under investigation for campaign finance violations by the Federal Election Commission. The Republicans are not hiding what they are doing.

It is time for an investigation of the investigators. Robert Mueller has broad powers. He can investigate anything anywhere that he wants, and the House Republicans are begging for an investigation.

That investigation is likely to come if Democrats win back the House in the midterm. Democrats have already suggested that they are going to launch full-scale Russia investigation if they are in the majority. The investigation should include the role of Devin Nunes and other Republicans on the committee in working with Trump to obstruct and derail the House investigation.

The Russia investigation is not dead, just delayed

House Republicans have killed their version of the Russia investigation, but as Rep. Schiff pointed out, Democrats are continuing their work. The Democrats are not letting up on the Russia investigation. The Republican blockade of Democratic efforts showed that Republicans have no interest in investigating Trump and Russia. The House GOP investigation was a sham.

All House Republicans have accomplished is the delaying of the inevitable. The Russia investigation is ongoing in the Senate. Robert Mueller continues to grind on, and by January 2019, House Democrats will be hit the ground running with an investigation that will be explosive.
