Vice President Mike Pence has based his entire political career on being “holier than thou.” He has successfully campaigned on “restoring family values” and bringing morality back to America.
Lately, however, Pence has based his political career on being loyal to a philandering, immoral president who lies indiscriminately and has been accused of numerous affairs and sexual assaults.
As recently as last month Pence said that the news accounts of an affair between Trump and porn star Stormy Daniels were false. He has continually denied that Trump had these alleged affairs and was unfaithful to his wife while she was sitting at home with their new baby. In January, Pence told the AP news service, “I’m just not going to comment on the latest baseless allegations against the president.”
Trump himself has also denied the Daniels affair, but with the latest allegations and hard evidence contradicting him, these denials will not be holding water for very long. Daniels will be appearing on the CBS show 60 Minutes sometime in the near future to give more details about her sordid affair with the president. Her accusations will be hard for Trump to refute.
Trump’s personal attorney and Daniels’ attorney are now also clashing publicly over the facts of the case which seem to prove beyond a doubt that Trump (or his attorney) paid $130,000 in hush money to Daniels to stop her from talking about her affair with Trump before the 2016 election.
And it is very likely that this payment — which has been fully documented and proven — may have been in violation of several federal laws, such as election laws and tax laws. The Daniels affair is becoming like a big stinky dog mess that Trump has stepped into and now can’t get off his shoes.
So what does the Vice President of the United States have to say about all of this new evidence about Trump’s disgusting and possibly illegal behavior? HypoctNothing.
Pence is the darling of the “religious right” and the Evangelical Christians who have supported Trump in overwhelming fashion. These hypocritical people apparently think that so long as Trump appoints Supreme Court justices (and other federal judges) who will make abortions and gay marriage illegal, he can do the most disgusting things imaginable and it’s OK. They seem to not care at all about the immorality of the leader of our country even though he has debased the office of the presidency beyond belief.
At some point Pence the moralist will have to speak up about the behavior of his president. He can’t remain silent forever. America is waiting to see if Pence is truly a moral leader or just another opportunistic hypocrite whose only goal is to obtain power.
