Sen. Dean Heller Is So Desperate To Keep His Seat That He Made Up A Justice Kennedy Retirement

Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV) looks marked for certain defeat in November, which is why he apparently made up a prediction about Justice Kennedy retiring from the Supreme Court.

Politico reported on audio they obtained of Sen. Heller:

Dean Heller knows he’s the most vulnerable Republican senator in the country. But he thinks Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy might just help him hang on to his seat.

“Kennedy is going to retire around sometime early summer,” Heller predicted in Las Vegas last week, according to audio of an event he spoke at that was obtained by POLITICO. “Which I’m hoping will get our base a little motivated because right now they’re not very motivated. But I think a new Supreme Court justice will get them motivated.”

There is one key fact working against Heller’s Disney princess wish for a Justice Anthony Kennedy retirement

Retiring Supreme Court justices don’t do this:

This is desperation in its most pure form. Republicans have nothing else to run on. They also remember that the Supreme Court was a big motivator for getting out the Republican vote in 2016, so it is logical and more than a little sad that a sitting US Senator has to write fan fiction to give himself hope of a victory in November.

Dean Heller doesn’t know anything about a Justice Kennedy retirement. He is hoping Kennedy retires, but the facts suggest that Heller is both going to be disappointed and lose his seat in November.
