Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) took apart Donald Trump for daring to question anyone’s patriotism even though he had five deferments to get out of going to Vietnam and can’t remember which foot his bone spur was in.

Transcript via CBS’ Face The Nation:
NANCY CORDES: You called him a “five deferment draft dodger.”
SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH: Four for school and one for medical reasons that he can’t even remember what foot the bone spur was in. I can still feel the hangnail in my right foot, and it’s missing! And– and you know, we have a guy that says he had a bone spur that kept him out of Vietnam and he can’t remember where it was.
NANCY CORDES: Do you think that disqualifies him from being commander-in-chief or making decisions about the military?
SENATOR TAMMY DUCKWORTH: No, I think he was elected rightfully to be president of the United States. But I don’t think that he has the right to question other people’s support for our military, especially those of us who have served.
Sen. Duckworth was correct. Trump has zero room talk about supporting the military. Trump dodged serving his country during a time of war, and as president, his actions have not matched his support the troops rhetoric. In December 2017, Trump’s VA had to back off of a plan to shift money away from a major program that combats homeless in veterans. Vets have seen their benefits under constant assault from the White House and the Republican-controlled Congress, as the GOP has talked their usual flag-waving big game, but their policies show that they have little concerns for the problems our veterans face.
Those who have served and sacrificed for their country know a fraud when they see it, and when Trump attacks any American for not supporting the military, he is reminding us all real patriots don’t hide behind fake bone spurs and daddy’s money to avoid service. Real patriots also don’t cooperate with hostile foreign powers to win presidential elections.
