The vast majority of the American people have had enough of Donald Trump’s vulgar and often repugnant behavior as more than two-thirds of the country believe the current President of the United States is a terrible role model for their children.
According to a new Quinnipiac University poll, 67 percent of voters don’t want their children to emulate the behavior of Trump.
More from the poll:
It is important that a president be a good role model for children, 90 percent of American voters say, but President Donald Trump is not a good role model for children, these voters say 67 – 29 percent in a Quinnipiac University National Poll released today.
There is almost no gender gap in grading President Trump’s standing as a role model. Every party, gender, education, age and racial group, except Republicans, say the president falls short, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll finds.
The bad news? Republican voters continue to shield themselves from reality. A staggering 72 percent of them actually say Trump – who paid a porn star $130,000 to keep quiet about their 2006 affair – is a suitable role model for their children.
The good news is that a majority – 54 percent – of Trump’s core constituency, white voters with no college degree, feel he is not a good role model for kids.
“For President Donald Trump, it’s a troubling trifecta: Stagnant approval numbers, low grades on most character traits and the reality that if parents are looking for someone their kids should emulate, that person is not residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue,” said the assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, Tim Malloy.
It was clear before the 2016 election that Donald Trump wasn’t a good role model for children. At the time, too many Americans were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt in hopes that the presidency would change him and trigger a pivot into adulthood.
If anything, his crude rhetoric and reckless behavior have become worse since taking office last year, and the American people have been given clarity about the dishonest, amoral conman they elected.
