A House Republican is predicting that the White House’s immigration plan will lead to Republicans losing the House and Trump getting impeached in a year.
Rachel Bade of Politico reported:
House Rs not happy w/this new WH immigration plan -> "This is the beginning of the end of the GOP majority in the House. In a year when the Democrats impeach Trump, we can point to this moment," one R on the call tells me.

Trump is very close to impeachment
The scenario laid out by the House Republican is realistic. With the current political tide so in favor of Democrats, it is possible that Democrats win the House. It speaks volumes about what people in his own party think of Trump that they believe that he is on the path to impeachment. Publicly, Republicans defend Trump for the same reason that this House member quoted above wouldn’t go on the record, Republicans in Congress fear retribution from the White House if they speak out against the president.
If Democrats take back the House, one of the first things that they are going to do is launch a real investigation into the Russia scandal. The days of Republicans running cover for Trump and derailing investigations will be over.
Republicans were in a rush to pass their tax cuts for the rich bill because they know what’s coming. The 2018 election is more than voters putting a check on Trump. It may also be the moment that the march toward impeachment of this president begins.
