The case against Trump for obstruction of justice is getting even stronger after CNN reported that the President knew that Mike Flynn lied to the FBI weeks before he fired him.
According to CNN, “The White House’s chief lawyer told President Donald Trump in January he believed then-national security adviser Michael Flynn had misled the FBI and lied to Vice President Mike Pence and should be fired, a source familiar with the matter said Monday. The description of the conversation raises new questions about what Trump knew about Flynn’s situation when he urged then-FBI Director James Comey to drop the investigation into Flynn and whether anyone in the White House, including the President himself, attempted to obstruct justice.”
If Trump knew that Flynn lied to FBI before he asked James Comey to drop the investigation into his former national security advisor, then he obstructed justice. The excuse that Trump didn’t obstruct justice, he just didn’t know how government works is not holding up well.
Trump was trying to get Flynn off the hook, and the Russia investigation buried to save himself.
It is fitting that this story was broken by the cable news network that Trump is actively trying to put out of business. The more Trump attacks CNN, the harder their journalists dig. Trump hates CNN and MSNBC because they tell the truth about him and his administration. The case against the President is getting more solid by the minute. Donald Trump knew that Mike Flynn lied to the FBI, so he went to then FBI Director James Comey to get Flynn off of the hook. When that failed, Trump tried to end the FBI’s Russia investigation by firing Comey.
