Bernie Sanders Drops A Truth Bomb About Republican Attempts To Dredge Up Bill Clinton’s Scandals

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said during an interview on CNN’s State Of The Union that the nation has a sexual harassment crisis and that the goal is to change US culture, not to relitigate the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal.

Video:

Sanders was asked if he agreed with Sen. Kristen Gillibrand (D-NY) that Bill Clinton should have resigned during the Lewinsky scandal. Sen. Sanders said, “Look, I don’t think at this moment our goal is to look back 20 years or 30 years. Our goal is to go forward, and our goal is to understand that we have a real crisis in this country today within the political world, within the corporate world, within the media world, where women are being harassed every single day, and our job is to change that culture, but it’s not only harassment on the job. Right now, we are seeing the situation in Washington and states all over this country. A major effort to take away a woman’s right to control her own body. Major struggles to take away women’s reproductive rights where women are making eighty cents on the dollar compared to men. The world has changed and we have not caught up with that, and obviously what has got to happen is that women have got to be treated as equal citizens, have to be comfortable at work, and have to be first-class citizens in this country, which is now not the case.”

It is sad that a United States Senator that a majority of the population in this country have to be treated as equal citizens. Outside of Sen. Gillibrand’s comments, Republicans have been trying to distract from Roy Moore by bringing up Bill Clinton. Sen. Sanders was right. There is a real crisis in this country today of sexual harassment and sexual assault. The crisis has been around for centuries. The only difference now is that women are speaking out.

Dredging up Bill Clinton who is retired and no longer in politics accomplishes nothing. People are entitled to their own opinion about whether or not Clinton should have resigned, but Republicans are trying to distract from the real crisis by bringing up the Clintons, and as Sanders said the goal is to change American culture, not be distracted by the Republican Clinton obsession.
