Rep. Jim Jordan asked Sessions what it would take to get a special counsel to investigate Hillary Clinton, and Sessions shot him down by telling him that it would take a factual basis.

Jordan laid out the whole Republican conspiracy theory and asked what it will take to get a second special counsel?
Sessions answered, “It would take a factual basis that meets the standards of an appointment of a special counsel…It’s in the manual of the Department of Justice about what’s required. We’ve only had two.”
Attorney General Sessions added, “We would use the proper standards, and that’s what I can tell you, Mr. Jordan. You can have your idea, but sometimes we have to study what the facts are, and evaluate whether or not it meets the standard to require a special counsel.”
That was Lyn’ Jeff Sessions shooting down the conspiracy theory that Republicans are using to justify a second special counsel to investigate Hillary Clinton and take attention away from Trump and the Russia scandal.
The answer that Sessions gave made it clear that the Republican conspiracy theory does not meet the threshold for a special counsel, and that he will not be appointing a second special counsel. There is no factual basis for the Republican smokescreen. Trump will be fuming after he hears that Sessions is not going to indulge his bogus conspiracy theory.
