Shameful: John Kelly Vows To ‘Never’ Apologize For Smearing Congresswoman Frederica Wilson

Despite spewing a blatant lie about Democratic Congresswoman Frederica Wilson earlier this month, Donald Trump Chief of Staff John Kelly took a page from his boss and said he will “never” apologize.

In an interview scheduled to air Monday on the premiere episode of Laura Ingraham’s new pro-Trump propaganda hour, ‘The Ingraham Angle’, Ingraham asked Kelly if he felt he should apologize for accusing Rep. Wilson of something she never did.

The former general’s shameful response: “Oh, no. No. Never.”

“I’ll apologize if I need to, but for something like that, absolutely not,” Kelly added. “I stand by my comments.”

It should be noted that the chief of staff’s comments were utterly false, and he does need to apologize. A decorated general like Kelly should understand when he’s made a mistake and act quickly to correct it. That’s how honorable men behave.

Instead, he appears to be stealing a page from Trump’s playbook: If you’re wrong, either avoid taking responsibility, lie about it – or both.

In this case, during Kelly’s effort to defend Trump’s insensitive treatment of the grieving widow of Sgt. La David Johnson, the chief of staff ended up telling a lie about Democratic Rep. Frederica Wilson, who initially revealed what Trump said during the call.

In an effort to play damage control after his boss botched the conversation, Kelly called Wilson an “empty barrel” and accused her of taking sole credit for acquiring funding for an FBI office, which she never did, according to video evidence.

Donald Trump and his chief of staff spent days waging war against a Gold Star wife and smearing an elected congresswoman, and weeks later there have been no apologies and, as Kelly’s comments Monday suggest, there never will be.

Ultimately, the behavior of John Kelly is proof that Donald Trump infects everybody around him, even a Marine general who used to be widely respected.
