Trump Makes 69th Golf Trip Since Taking Office As The World Burns Around Him

With Las Vegas – and the country – still reeling from last weekend’s unspeakable terrorism and Puerto Rico still struggling to recover from Hurricane Maria, Donald Trump made an unscheduled visit to his golf club in Virginia on Saturday.

As NBC News reported, the unplanned stop marks his 69th golf trip since taking office in January and 89th day at a Trump property – all in the span of 260 days.

If you’re keeping score, that means the President of the United States has spent more than 26 percent of his time in office golfing and roughly one-third at one of his ritzy properties.

More from The Hill:

Trump left the White House shortly after 9 a.m. on Saturday morning wearing a red USA cap, a white polo shirt and khakis, according to pool reports. Trump’s motorcade arrived at Trump National Golf Club just before 10 a.m.

This is Trump’s first visit to his Virginia golf club since late July and his 69th visit to one of his own properties since taking office, according to a NBC News tracker.

Here’s Trump during the campaign predicting that he’d probably never see any of his golf courses if he was elected president, telling the crowd he’d “want to stay in the White House and work my ass off.”

Oh, and there are tweets like this to go with it.

Trump’s Saturday evening schedule isn’t likely to be any more productive for the president, as he plans to stop by the home of a couple of wealthy GOP donors to raise money for the party.

According to the same Hill report, “Trump is set to headline a fundraising dinner at the home of two prominent Republican supporters in Greensboro, N.C., on Saturday night.” The cost of the event, the report adds, ranges from $2,700 to $100,000 per ticket.

For those keeping track at home: Trump spent his Saturday whining about late-night comedians on Twitter, playing his 69th round of golf at one of his country clubs, and kissing the feet of wealthy Republican donors.

All of this as families of the dozens lost in the Las Vegas shooting continue to mourn, Puerto Rico remains in dire straights, and another hurricane is set to make landfall Saturday night.
