WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Donald Trump said on Friday that churches in Texas should be able to receive money from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for helping victims of Hurricane Harvey.
“Churches in Texas should be entitled to reimbursement from FEMA Relief Funds for helping victims of Hurricane Harvey (just like others),” Trump said on Twitter.
Three Texas churches severely damaged by the hurricane sued FEMA on Monday, saying the agency has a ban on providing relief where at least half a building’s space is used for religious purposes.
